About Me

Having been a model for 10 years I have worked with over 50 different photographers in numerous locations, and have been in front of the camera countless times. Over the course of the last 10 years I have become increasingly involved in the creative process of a photo shoot, from concept to set design & decoration, wardrobe, lighting and every single minor detail of a shoot.

I have come to understand what looks good in person doesn’t always look good in a photo, and that what works for one model doesn’t necessarily work for another with a different body type.

In 2013, after shooting as a model with Michelle Wild of Shutterbug Boudoir on many occasions, she suggested I assist her with her boudoir photography shoots. It is difficult for most women who are not used to being in front of the camera to know what to wear or how to pose, especially when in lingerie or wearing very little, and she felt my many years of experience could improve the end result of her client’s photographs which you can see here.

From there my expertise and experience have grown, now in addition to assisting Michelle Wild I assist many different photographers across different genres.

Locations

I have worked with and have a variety of locations available to shoot in.  If you’re looking for a studio I work closely with M Wilds Studio, we can use a hotel, my apartment, an outdoor location, or perhaps somewhere industrial and creative like an abandoned factory.  The only limit is our collaborative imagination. These are some examples of locations.

What does a Stylist do?

A photographic stylist works closely with photographers (and sometimes models) to create the right ‘look’ and mood for a photo shoot. Sometimes that involves finding props, dressing the set, finding the right clothing for the model and the shoot and organizing everything behind the scenes.

I enjoy being part of the creative process, however am also capable of working from a specific brief on a project, I can manage the whole shoot as creative director as well as I have been responsible for as Director of Marketing for a large company.

Some things that a stylist can be involved in include:

  • discussing the shoot with the photographer and/or model to come up with ideas
  • deciding on the best clothes, accessories and backgrounds to achieve the desired look
  • buying, borrowing or hiring props, clothing and accessories
  • arranging the set
  • dressing models and make any adjustments so that clothes fit and look good
  • ensuring during the shoot that the background remains clear of clutter
  • keeping a stock of fashion or home accessories – (I often contribute my own items to a shoot)

I am also to assist with hair and makeup.  What I generally suggest is that a model does her own hair and makeup in the way she would usually do it and then I add and adjust as necessary to look good in the photos.
